A step-by-step walkthrough: add a bus company, set up its buses, add a conductor to sell on the ground, and take passengers from ticket to boarding. No technical setup required — everything happens in the dashboard and the POS app.
🏢Bus Operator
The bus company. Manages its own vehicles, routes and trips. Sees only bus tools — never event tools.
Dashboard · manage.carrottickets.com
🎟️Conductor
Sells bus tickets and checks passengers in on the day of travel, using a handheld device.
POS app · login code + PIN
1
Add the bus operator
Done by you (Carrot Tickets admin) · in the dashboard
Sign in to manage.carrottickets.com with your admin account.
Open Organizers in the left sidebar.
Click Add Operator (top right).
Enter the business name, an email or phone number, and a password.
Set Type to Bus Operator — or Events & Bus if they also run events.
Click Create. ✓ Verified automatically
Hand the operator their email/phone + password so they can sign in.
2
Set up the buses
Done by the bus operator · in the dashboard
The operator signs in to manage.carrottickets.com with the details from Step 1 — they land straight on their bus dashboard.
Open Vehicles and add a vehicle type (e.g. 44-seat coach) with its seat layout.
Open Bus Routes and add a route — where it runs from and to, and the fare.
Open Bus Trips and create a trip: pick the route, the vehicle, and the departure date & time. Seats are generated automatically.
That trip is now live and ready to sell.
3
Add a conductor to sell
Done by you (Carrot Tickets admin) · in the dashboard
Open Resellers and create the selling business (or open an existing one).
Add a Hub under it — a branch, depot or station.
Add an Operator (the conductor). They’re issued a login code and PIN.
Give the conductor their login code + PIN, and install the Carrot Tickets POS app on their device (link below).
4
Sell a bus ticket
Done by the conductor · in the POS app
Open the POS app and sign in with the login code + PIN.
Tap Sell Bus Tickets.
Choose the bus company, then the trip.
Choose the seat(s) — or the number of passengers.
Choose how they’re paying: Cash, MTN MoMo, or Wallet.
Enter the passenger’s name and phone number.
Tap Print — the ticket prints with a scannable QR code.
5
Board the passengers
Done by the conductor · in the POS app
Tap Board Bus.
Choose the bus company, then the trip being boarded.
Scan each passenger’s ticket QR code to check them in. Already-scanned or wrong-trip tickets are rejected on the spot.
Good to know
A Bus Operator account shows only bus tools. An Events & Bus account shows both — useful for a company that runs events and transport.
Operators you add from the Organizers page are verified instantly — no waiting for approval.
Bus operators can’t sign themselves up. Only you (the admin) create them — that keeps the operator list controlled.
One conductor can sell for any bus company — they simply pick the company first each time.
Payments and SMS run on the existing Carrot Tickets gateway; nothing extra to configure.
